    New boat survey

Sea vee 34 CC or Yellowfin 36CC. Out of RI. Fishing for bluefin most often south of block. Maybe up to the cape and a few canyon trips a season.
    What would be your choice?

Both are awesome CCs but a SeaVee with diesels would be real sweet.

I had a YF 36 with twin suzuki 300s for two of the most carefree fishing years ever before I moved to a cabin boat for family trips. I also looked into sea vee and ultimately went yellowfin because:

    1) good local support through buzzards bay marine. rob is a stand up guy there.
    2) better performance and 2 extra feet
    3) stronger resale

I would buy another yellowfin in a second. i keep bugging them to make a diesel cabin boat. If I were moving back to CC land I would buy a YF 34 or 36 with twin Yamaha 350s. Hydrographer in 2:45, Atlantis in 2:15 - 200 gallons per trip........

hydro in 2.45??? yea in FAC seas. but just kick it up to 2-3 @4 sec and that ride goes to 4-4.5 hr real fast!

I go to the hydro and back on 105-110 gal (diesel) in 4.5 in above stated seas.

    Hats off to yanmar!

That hydro 2:45 was done a few times including with NE 10-15. With the shoals knocking it down it was probably 2-3 ft on the beam. I know it sounds like BS but you really need to run one of these big CCs to believe it. It really has to be kicking to have to slow it down. In weather you want to fish you can run. I only can think of two trips we ran under 30 knots, one with huge leftover slop headsea where you fell 6' off the backs (we ran 28) and one trip up nantucket sound with 25 knots of SW against the tide (tabs all the way down 20 knots, that one sucked).

Although Id rather have diesel for trolling and dependability, the ride is undoubtedly 38 Fountain with trip 300 or 350's. Ive never been in anything close!! Although the guy in OaksBluff with the 39 SeeVee with trip 350 yammis mite have a dog in the fite !! Im talkin for offshore, 50-150 mile runs each way! Its scary how fast they run comfortably even in pretty good slop. Not thrilled with the trolling performance on the gofast outboard rigs compared to a finely tuned diesel sporty or downeast! Its all about compromise!!
