Heading that way myself, due south of the Hooter, expecting to lines in S of the lanes at 07:00. I'm glad to hear that the swell forecast is not changing your plans, it's good to know someone from the area will be down there as well. "The Other Woman" will have her ears on.

Kevin - I'm planning on putting in well above the lanes and exploring the break before going further south.
The swell is what the swell is. You slow down to stay in the water on the way down and surf it home on the way back.
We are going to stick our nose out tommorow as well. Heading in the same direction, lookin at the water just south of 14250/43450. Will monitor 68. Give us a call when you get there.

LB,didja get your guy?
I got spooked by the 15-18 N breeze this AM at the 45 fathom line at 07:00, 8 miles N of the 80 degree water (according to Oceantemp) and potentially against the predicted 4-7 ft SE swell. Put the brakes on the day, turned around and headed into the sea for the SE corner of the Dump. Lines in 15 miles due east of the SE corner, trolled due W from there to the corner, turned NNW all the way through the Dump to the Fingers. Hit every single flyer that I could find. One adorable little mahi to show for all that effort, however FAC conditions at 1 PM despite the small craft advisories. It was still better than staying at the dock wishing I was out there. As a wise man once said, you don't know if you don't go...
Smart move - I went to 40 fathoms and turned around; both because of sea conditions and because there was more life above.
We had 4 bluefin, 2 false albacore, as many mahi as we didn't want and an incredible Living Planet Shark show amidst the floaters behind the draggers.
We also had something dump 1/2 of a 50 in 30 seconds, jump twice and break the 100# mainline above the Star in 71 degree water.
You may feel that you made the wrong call by turning around but have a look at 44008 today. 15-19 from the N in the AM< 13-15 in the PM, still blowing 9-11 well above the hot water.
My bet is its been cranking 15-20 below 50 fathoms all day. You made the right call....
