Nahant and Boston Harbor

Heading out to eggrock and the Boston Harbor this Thursday, anyone else doing the same? Hopefully we could get some flounder, stripers and blues! Thanks

We need to remember that chum bucket, sand worms and lets not forget the mackeral in my freezer again...thank god for the mackeral rigs onboard the last trip.

Try the spindle off of Marblehead/Swampscott...used to produce years ago on the boat I was fishing. Another good spot is redrocks off of the Lynn / Swampscott line.

Updates???

Any Harbor reports from over the weekend? Any pogie sightings? I know you guys are all tuna crazy, but us guys with small boats need to take what we can get.

No pogeys but we did pull up some (10) 16 inch flounder, surprisingly 3 cods 20 inches (throw back of course), lots of Mackeral for future bait and chum. Stripers seem to be hard to come by for us, we keep hooking up with dogs or skates.

We fished nahant harbor and the eggrock area.

Try up tight to the rocks at night with open bails and chunks of bait...another option is casting eels into the rocks after dark. Good luck-

Thanks for the tip, the thing is we get nervous when we get close to rocks. Earlier in the season on our maiden voyage we hit rock, bent the skeg, tore up the prop and bent the shaft!

We'll give it a shot because chatching dogs is a drag!

If you fish some chunk bait right off the rocks at the Nahant warf or across Nahant harbor towards the golf course you will get into some fish...

Started at 5 am and we're getting better in the area. Caught a few striper schoolies but no keepers, caught a keeper Cod fish (24" exact) and it was within 1/2 mile from shore, caught a few keeper flounder (15.5"). The good news is that we finally had a day that no dogs were landed! Hopefully we start to land some cows sometime soon!?
