    Multi species fishing permit

I am purchasing a 37 ft Duffy that comes with 350 lobster traps and a lobster license. I want to fish commercially for other species such as cod haddock stripers tuna etc. so I was wondering how you go about getting a multi species fishing permit. How much do they cost? Any info would be great thanks.

You might check billyoliverboats.com . Looks like he/they? apparently consult or buy/sell/lease? permits. I believe NE Multispecies has been a closed fishery for quite a while but there are probably permit holders who want to lease out rather than actually fish these days. If you find one you still have to apply to the feds according to this : http://www.nero.noaa.gov/permits/for...equestForm.pdf
Prepare to be regulated and paperworked to smithereens. Make sure you are covered for either/both state & fed waters according to where you want to fish. -It might even be a case of either/or but not both. I'm not a comm fisherman.

i will second the paperwork crap !! you almost need a file cabinet on the boat. groundfish in particular.. and the "random survey" calls from quantec...every week.. its a real pia, it makes fishing look easy ! so ask about the "backside" of any permits you may want to get.
    good luck on the boat

do you have a commercial sale license for tuna? well on that same form for the rod and reel you can tack on endorsements for stripers and lobsters... etc if you sell a striper you can probly get like 60 a fish, 2 a day i think it is..

You can not just get an endorsement for an 800 trap lobster license.

Last couple of 400lb handgear cod permits I saw had asking prices of 20k.

Area 1A lobster licenses are asking 10-12k.

License transfers are tricky - make sure someone that knows their stuff is guiding you.
