You may find the book , " The LOBSTER, its life cycle" (By Herb taylor/ Pices Books) somewhat helpful as you attempt to figure out the seasonal movements of these often elusive bugs. Did the previous owner sell you his log of where he set when and the results over the years?

Keep in mind there are a ton of commercial lobstermen out there with 300-800 pots and some can be viciously possessive of "their" spots which include just about every bit of hard ground. Not to mention the sleazeballs with no pots who will be glad to share your catch as long as you keep the traps baited.

These days I don't know any happy lobstermen, but they still do it because they have SW in their veins and thick carapace. Wish you every success.

They dropped all the days at sea permits because the common pool quota is nearly full. They get around saying you can't fish by letting you fish, but only being able to catch 50 lbs a day. Earlier this year you could still catch 300lbs with the handgear permit, but that was before they dropped the limit for anyone not in a sector. Such a joke.
