    Mudhole Bite?

Heading out in the a.m. to fish the area SE of Block. Has anyone been fishing in the area of the Fairway Buoy, the Mudhole or Coxes? Will post results tomorrow night.

    Thanks in advance.

There's been some fish out that way. 60-80lb class fish and some mahi; lots of bait and activity. It's good to see.

Have talked to a lot of people fishing the area lately. No bait, no tuna, no sharks, no whales, ..........and definitely no flying fish almost at the bluffs. Huge waste of time!

Mike, was that you and a bud I saw Friday casting around the whales in a green cc?

Well we got out to a late start, left the dock at 4:45 a.m. and headed to coxes. Marked some fish on the sonar that were streaking thru the water column but couldn't keep the wolf pack of blues off our baits. We made our way toward the Mudhole and finally got tight around 8 a.m. to a 45" football. We continued to beat the area and managed to tag another 43". There were a lot of weeds today and keeping the spread clean was a workout.

At noonish we headed eastward to start sharking. Three lines went in with fresh blues on them and then all hell broke loose. Halfbeaks were flying out of the water and schools of very aggressive tuna were hot on there tails. Out came the spinning rods and we managed to catch two more on needles before we had to leave.

All in all a very fun day, kept one fish for the crew, tagged two and released another at boatside. It sure is nice to see some of these smaller fish around.

went out friday and went 1-2 on bluefin just outside of the fairway. THere are some fish there but you just have to work for them. Hooked up on a sluggo/bird and a x-rap. GOOD LUCK

BFT at Coxes if you work for them

Fished Northwest of Coxes and then trolled to the ledge and west Saturday AM. Tough troll with many weeds but managed a small BFT on jet head close in. Released that fish as activity through the day gradually got going. By 2PM had breaking 30-50lb BFT in all directions. Finicky and popping up and down quickly on large piles of bait. Drifted down on tight school and got good 45lb BFT on a 9 in Ron-Z. All in all great day with spectacular show of BFT on top but had to work for the hookup.
