Anybody still use them or have they gone to the wayside now that most fish are caught on live bait instead of chunked?

most fish caught on live bait..........check your stats
didn't mean to sound like an ass there, but no I do not feel that most fish are caught on live bait. maybe more than years past, but there are still a lot of guys out there tying bait.
No offense taken. My thought is with the glut of "Endangered" dogfish around most baits are fished close to the surface most of the season (June, July, August, maybe part of September) keeping stich baits etc to a minimum those times. While I haven't been to Georges, I think that has been more of a traditional chunk bite where stitch baits and or mousetraps would be more common. Do you still use mousetraps or do you prefer to forgo the extra work of using them?
I myself have never fished a mousetrap, have them on the boat though and have heard stories of fish caught on them in somewhat recent time (5-6 years)
Pardon my ignorance but what's a mousetrap, other than what you use for mice?
A mousetrap is usually but not always a length of cable attached to a hook and hidden in a chunk or other dead bait. When the hook is set the cable uncoils and the lighter leader is protected from the fishes mouth because the cable is what touches the tuna's teeth.
yes they r used every day even on live baits
They are light weight so they can be flown under a kite. We rubber band them to the pogy with white rubber bands. They decrease the number of lost fish. I get great hook sets and obviously no chafing. It also allows me to bring in any mako or blue dog without losing the tackle. For $20 bucks it is a good deal.
