Not sure if this helps, but I think you've got a tall order.....midcoast Maine is considered Rockland/Camden area.....and there's not a lot of tuna boats that I know about up that way.

I think there's some comml guys that target Monhegan Island for the giants that pass through and some fish that summer up that way. You might find something out of Boothbay Harbor- but that's more like a boat ride with some groundfishing.

You might ask a guy on SFC.com called "Old Mud"- you could send him a PM and talk directly.

Your best bet would be to check with the chamber of commerce- just an idea.....I lived up there about 15 yrs ago and don't have any contacts anymore

    Here's a link to a chamber ~ good luck

    Rich,
I've spent some time around Belfast and seen guys trolling for stripers and occasionally I see breaking fish with birds on them. I don't know anything about the area up there-what's around up there?

    Yeah, send him to Platz.

Dude, live bait within 10 miles of the coast has been catching them down south ME. I'd tell you more, but I'd have to kill ya.

Assuming you have a boat that can handle it and you are comfortable doing it, I would be looking between Seguin and Monhegan. If need be you can go south of Seguin a bit (5-10 miles) and then work towards Monhegan. Thats right in your neck of the woods, seeing as you are not used to the area I would not be going to Platts or anything like that. Make sure you pick the right day, its been windy off Maine all summer.

If Platts wasn't so far for me to go I would be there every chance I got as far as the wind goes pick your days, there are tuna there & no one is going to kill you.Monhegan is nice because you don't have the lobster gear to worry about, good luck.
