Michael Brandon hit by tanker off scituate

Apparently happened a few days ago, damage to bow but luckily made it back to port, no injuries, boat sank at pier. I didn't see anything on the news about this. Pretty scary, could have been worse.

Wow! After reading the article Kevin posted, sounds like the Michael Brandon hit the tanker. She probably wouldn't have made it back to Scituate otherwise. Damn shame, glad everyone made it out of this one alive.

I do not know the boat or the captain and know nothing of what actually happened, but if the story is accurate it sounds like the wheel may have been unattended or someone fell asleep. I've crossed many a tanker in my career and they are big targets to hit broad side. I am very happy all hands came home safe in any event. Boats can be replace people can't and accidents happen.

thats too bad, that was a really nice boat, just lucky they made it home afloat, a gillnetter buddy of mine was hit by a tanker in the fog and his boat sunk on the spot, they were also very lucky only losing there dog and there boat, it could certainly have been worse

I know Tom and he is a very experienced Captain. This just goes to show sh!t can happen to anyone. Lucky they are OK. To bad this had to happen to such a nice guy with a nice boat.
