We had a great start this spring in Providence harbor.Millions of pogies with a lot of bass on them, but within a couple weeks, the pogie boats decimated them.In reality,it probably saved a lot of bass, because it was the wild west out there.A-holes with no business being in a boat, were keeping some large bass.Sorry for the hijack, good luck.

Keepers

I guess that commercial harvest is done legally, but with River Herring banned, it's a real problem for us recs...now if we could buy 'em alive + reasonable from those guys?...I know a lot of 'em changed hands like that "in the old days"...probably still a matter of who ya know!...Re harvesting SB, I tend to keep all my keepers, and ALL that meat gets eaten by appreciative fans, but I do see that a couple of 30" fish is a wiser take than a big cow...I just hope the bassin' picks up soon so I can get in touch with my feelings about all that for real! Heck, I LOVE catching and eating bluefish, but haven't seen them inshore yet, either. I'll see what's around for me tomorrow. Later! -IHTBB

The Net Result

Monday 8/24...same as a month ago...they're there spread out and we had to work a little for 'em, but they're in there..."trouble" is, there's no gamefish bunching 'em up...hope they show up soon, I don't have the range, tackle, time, or $$ to chase Tuna on my boat, but Bass and Blues in close make my season! Good luck, all! -IHTBB

I'm with you on the inshore game.

Keep Thompson Island in the back of your mind. Last year, about this time around dusk it was meyhem. 20 yards off the Outward Bound dock.

With the blue fish coming into the harbor its going to heat up and we have deserved it after a tough summer.

The sein boat was back yesterday and did some damage.

He made a set right up against the beach and filled his boat

I was there yesterday morning when the seine boat came in. They set thier net and pulled 1,000's in one set. I couldn't believe how many they pulled out in one set. They were very thick yesterday with a lot of bass chasing them, but can imagine a couple more days of that and it will be empty again.
