Thumbs up MBG goes to PEI

Well....I am watching my father and brother pack up there fishing stuff, clothes, video cameras, food, etc. Bryan and Old Greg are going to Prince Edward Island, Canada for giant bluefin. They are leaving 6:00pm tonight, and getting there 6:00am tomorrow. They are fishing monday, tuesday, and maybe wednesday and coming back thursday, hopefully with some insane stories. I have tears going down my face because I chose to go to a military college.....if I was at a "regular" college, I would be packing my bags as well. I am sure I will be getting phone calls each night and will update this thread as I get their info.....seems fishing has been off the charts up there with many...many....granders being seen. The captain they are fishing with said one of his good friends got a 1317lb fish up there this past week......

Bryan and Greg are leaving with my video camera...his video camera....and 2 hero wide angle cameras that can go underwater. I am sure, if all goes well, I will have enough video to make a whole video on this trip much like the Cabo video.

Sorry Taylor Somebody has to do the dirty work We are heading up for opening day PEI style, probably will be closing day too. Restrictions in Canada are ridiculous! You think we have it bad here? This year each boat with a tag is only allowed 1 fish for the first two weeks and maybe they will be allowed a second fish after that.

OHO has set us up with gear and the cameras will be rolling so we should have some good stuff to show and tell when we get back.

Dave you know where the keys are so give the customers good trips this week if the weather cooperates at all. The fishing should be good if we get back out on the Bank. The troll bite has been good and its only the first week of October. Check last years contest I think Fred won on Dec 10th. with a nice tuna.

Taylor, my son went to MMA also. In the long run it is going to be well worth all you will have to go through. Personally I think Guernon is a twit who doesn't realize he works for the Dept of Education and not any of the services. If I were to put on a space suit it don't make me an astronaut. When my son went there he went to a girls prom and he would not let him miss morning formation,so he had to drive back at like 1:30 am. As a parent I thought this was unsafe to do and filed a complaint with the Board of Education.

Greg and Brian, Have a great trip. Can't wait to see the vid. At some point I would like to learn the specifics of this trip. I have been thinking of going up there some day. Taylor, I feel your pain. Just remember the Dream Weaver is only weeks away. Cabo Baby, tuna can't jump

Thumbs up Day 1 Phone Conversation with Old Greg

Thanks Fred for trying to cheer me up....wellll I just got the first call from Bry and Old Greg a few hours ago. They could barely talk, all I heard was TuunnaaAA ThhOOuuSAANND poOuunnDEERSSss HHAaaNNdd FEEddDinnggg UUnnDDerrrrwatterr FOootTTAGGEEe.....

Finally they calmed down, and I began to get nauseous.
Old Greg said PEI is unbelievable. They went out of the harbor, about as far as the bell buoy in Scituate Harbor. The Captain began talking on the radio to his brother, whom is in a boat nearby. They jigged a bunch of mackeral up and went over to the captain's brother's boat. Greg said they pulled their boat less than a "boat slip" distance away from eachother (3-6 feet) and started chumming. I asked how long did they chum before you started seeing fish....Greg said they mayyyybee threw a dozen mackeral in the water in between the boats....
Next thing you know they had a school of giants eating baits in between the boats. I am listening to Bryan in the backround of this phone conversation with my father yelling and screaming like a lil school girl. He was watching the footage they had from today. Bryan has underwater video and regular video of a school of fish plucking the chum off the surface. I guess he attached his hero underwater camera to a harpoon and stuck it underwater for the frenzy.
    I asked....how big were they?
Old Greg said the smallest one they saw in this particular school was 800lbs with a few near 1200lbs. The quota opens tomorrow....I will give an update tomorrow night. He said they may not even fish that spot because it didn't seem to have a lot of fish.....must be nice.

Hey dunn....they told me on the phone, and I can't remember to be honest. I know the captain's name is Jaime. They said the quota should fill tomorrow. There are around 300 boats fishing tomorrow...I thought the bank was bad.

    WOW

I can't imagine hand feeding thousand pounders. Would love to drop the "Giant Killer" 80 short stroke in there to see if I could handle it. Well on second thought, maybe a 130 in the corner would be smarter. Can't wait to see that footage

I've fished up there a couple times. Nice people and the fish are both close to shore and big. People actually help each other and move out of the way when a big one is on the line. More amazingly, the people who troll stay away from the people who anchor and fish bait. Beautiful place. Good luck.
