Well, to say cod fishing is great, is an understatement. I was the mate yesterday, May 7 on the Fortuna. It looked like the tuna had showed up with all of the bird activity around the 20+ fleet of boats. Pollack and Cod were packed top to bottom. We were jigging 8-15lb cod less than 20 feet under the boat. You could feel your jig hitting them on the top of their heads on the way down to the bottom......if you could make it that far . It is absolutely ridiculous. It is very rare to pull up one fish, almost every bite was doubles...decent size pollack and cod fish. The tuna will be here before you know it. I have some new squid colors this year...a natural color and of course a new black combination. I am looking forward to reading everyone's reports and of course posting some pictures and videos of the 2011 season. Tight lines!!!
