Maybe a new way to mark wire line
I stripped 5 sections of rubber sheathing off household thermostat wiring (~22ga) about "6 long. Slid all 5 on the end of a '300 spool of SS wire, and superglued one every '50. For the glueing I applied glue the length of the sheathing and spun while sliding the sheathing over the glue area on the wire.
I let the super glue dry and then ran it through the guides a bunch of times jamming it on the non rollers intentionally and it held its ground. It was quicker and easier then telephone wire or floss and elastics, also more visible and easy to do different colors for different lengths/ depths.
FWIW I used gorilla brand super glue.

It's a good idea . But I have a strong personal preference for soft monel and Malin sells 300' rolls that are already pre-marked every 50' with a short length of durable shrink tube that stays in place. I don't bother with braid line separators any more, just let out a little more line every once in a while if jigging and use roller tiptops. The monel lasts a long time and is very cooperative in the level-line Penn 330 or 320 GT2's.

The ss wire is a bit of a pain, when I reline the rods I'm going to try the 7 strand SS wire, I guess its mostly used down south. More flexible & no kinks i guess, like this but #40.

I think of stranded wire as leader material. If used for main deep trolling line it's likely to have a lot more water resistance, and be careful - any broken stands will shred your thumb. If you try the soft monel once I doubt you would go back to SS but it's a personal preference with intial cost consideration as well ( but it lasts longer IMO).
