Mass..Striper bill..no commercials

I'm posting this here in New England, Northeast section cause it's Massachusetts. There is a bill still being pushed through the house to make Striper's a "Game Fish" only. I don't sell a lot of striper (most customers take the meat home) But I don't like this bill....House bill 796. The best aprt of the article is that the 30 fishermen catch less than 4000lbs.....then it shows the million pound quota. hahaha. i caught more than 4000lbs alone can I be one of the 30???

Matt Patrick is smarmy and a big phony..he won't even return a phone call and the best part from what i have heard is he is not well liked amongst his peers..I fished 11 days for 2900 pounds...

Putting the "for or against" debate aside. I have a question. How could any one, or any group, go to such lengths to put less then 30 people out of work when by the facts of this report those 30 people have such a miniscule impact on the fishery. Seems like a lot of time and money is being waisted for somting that will have no effect on anything, and those are pretty dismal figures to support such an action. If a group of less then 30 individuals are having such a huge impact on the striper population one would think there are no stripers out there at all. Now this comment/Question is based solely on the rediculous facts of this News report. Which i am sure is based totaly in BS. Yet another example of the press miss representing the facts.

everyone always forgets me...lol I used to fish that season every day....my best year was around 6000 pounds all jig fish...these SF people suck...it is a cheap attempt at a power grab....the striper population is still 60% above the acceptable threshold for the species to even be considered in trouble....further more its the SF guys with their fly rods that kill more fish than I do...ahhhhhhh I am beginning to vent....

have learned that the will be a public hearing on this bill next week at statehouse. Thurs 14 Jan 2010 @ 10am. I called my rep and actually got return call from his rep.3 times. that's how i learned of hearing. They will divide and concour all of us unless you and me keep after them.Tommy
