We had a good day on Saterday.Brought four fish to the boat. Took one in 65” the other three were the same size. Hit one on a ballyhoo close off the corner close to the boat.Had to cover a lot of ground to find them!

We got them from a guy on THT cheap. Great rods while fighting a fish! They had a ton of backbone with just enough tip flex. If that fish on a spreader bar (heavy leader) it would have been ours no problem. We lost it due to the 100 pound leader being chaffed through.

Both the Fortuna and the Labrador fished today. Both got fish. Fortuna hooked two. Great day bass and blue fishing for both boats. They pretty much limited out on bass. Tuna were all around 65". Fish taken were caught on my new color. Good and Plenty...black and pink...just got a batch of 300 squid in!!!! Both charter groups had great days...

I trust MBG are regularly reporting the meat as well as the releases so as to help protect our quota against the other guys who most evily catch and keep short fish.

High Liners
I had a couple of Brothers From Tampa FLA. for 2 days of Blue fin tuna fishing. Thay have fished all over the world for all types of trophy fish.
Day one: Wednesday we headed out to Northwest Corner. The day before I landed two fish before 8am. Both fish where in the mid 60 inch range. We got to the numbers and we had allot of marks. Flat calm seas S#cked trolled for three hours not a sniff. Found the biggest school of striped Bass I had ever seen ! It stretch for about 3 miles between NW corner and Gloucester. We caught a few 40 inch plus fish on the squid bars. Who ever thought 40" Bass would become a nuisance? After a no tuna bite we went cod fishing and Limited out on 30" cod in less than an hour 40 cod. What a fun day of fishing but these guys came for tuna. Day two: headed out to south west corner at 3:30 am found lots of whales and birds. I marked a whole crap-load of fish just like yesterday on NW corner.I just kept trolling when a friend called and said he was hooked up not to far from me. When I got to the area he was in, it was the same signs as the SW corner, fish all over we started trolling, when all around, Tuna jumping and thrashing. "Bam" where on! we ended up hooking 4. Early released two and got two to the boat. The two we landed where about 65" fish. We Tagged and released the second fish. All by 9am. As soon as they where up they where down. I think this was the scenario all over the bank. All you have to do is be somewhere with birds and marks and just pound the pavement until they come up to feed. We then took a cruise to Race Point and limited on 40" Bass. Wow what an awesome day thank god for our bounty. To make a long story short " what a difference a day makes" |
