LMFAO!! Great report Greg. Gmoney, I'm guessing that if Kerry was hiding in the wheelhouse to avoid getting attacked that maybe he didn't want the digits!!! Greg, care to elaborate if Kerry was being pursued by a less than stellar prospect?

Downright Scary like a group of truck drivers after the coffee girl. Kerry was just getting a taste of his own medicine.

Break out the Big Guns

Yesterday July 14th we had the pleasure of watching thousands of tuna pushing into Cape Cod Bay. We saw many fish in the 80"+ range. Today there where a couple of reports of guys getting striped on 50# class rods. There are also a couple of stories floating around about 600 pound fish east of the cape and east of the bank. These fish where pushing and they looked like they where on a mission to get somewhere. I hope Stellwagen and Cape Cod bay is where they want to stay. I am fishing with 130# and 80 # equipment. Put your small gear away and break out the Big Guns At the very least use gear made for 400 pound fish or bigger. Use at least 130 pound test Flouro or 200 pound Mono Leaders. Be careful Gaffing these big fish I use a Harpoon for fish 150 + (safer for the mate).

PS; We also saw many schools of fish around 50" or 100+ pounds on the west side of the bank.

"Gulf Coast Guides" fishing report

Ok well...I am not too happy about leaving a great bluefin bit but, I am on a job in TX for a couple of weeks and have a little time off on the weekends. We have a trip planned on my boss's boat to some inshore rigs near Galveston TX to fish for reds, black drum, cobia, etc. Next weekend we will hopefully be moving offshore to get a shot a blue marlin and load up on some yellowfin.

I will keep you guys posted as to how it goes. Hopefully some good pics to come

Catch em up

-Bry

Giants are here! July 16, 2009

Today we saw and hooked a couple of real big fish we estimated around 500 pounds. We pulled the hook on both fish. I think we pulled the hook because we where using 9-0 hooks that are to small to wrap the fishes jaw. I am using 10-0 or 11-0 hooks from now on. One of the fish we fought for about 45 minutes on a 130# Shimano. One of my friends Jeff Corwin hooked a fish this morning and spent three hours on an 80# rod and reel only to lose the fish close to the boat ( pulled Hook). We ended up landing a 69" fish trolling squid bars on the way home. Even know we did not land a Giant it was great to watch them chase down the pogies. The Big fish are here, break out the Big guns and put the spinning tackle to bed.

And after all the hints you've been getting from the experts on here about using the proper gear.......jeez, I guess some people will never learn.

holy moses....what a day

Fished on the Nuts and Bolts today out of Scituate with Hotreels JR!! Decided to ask him to come along show us his stuff and possibly get him a mates job...and that he did. Left the docks around 4:30 and we were set up trolling by 6:00. 20 minutes goes by and we were on a good one. Ended up being a 68" fish. Got the explosion on film (soon to come). We trolled and decided to bring them in and set up the kite and put a balloon bait out as well. A fish came up and crashed the kite bait....for some reason he just missed it. Another five minutes goes by, a little re-rigging of the kite bait and slam...smokes it clean out of the water. We were tight for a while and popped him off next to the boat. The smaller 9/0 hooks are having a little trouble this year I have noticed. We set back up on our drift heard over the radio that Enoch was on (right where we were heading). So we bombed over to the beginning of the drift and plopped the baits back in. I was letting the kite out and there was a boil under it....I thought I was seeing sh*t. Jeff yelled like a little girl....BALLLOOOONN!!. Swoosh see ya lata bye!. Balloon was tight. Jeff yelled like a little girl again! KIIITTTEEE!!!. Baaaamm the kite got eaten. Here we were doubled up Within 10 minutes we popped the hook on one of the fish. Got the other one in and tagged and released it. Somewhere around 65". Not done yet....Put the baits out one more time. Maybe a half an hour goes by and our last kite bait was barely swimming, half dead. I am watching it...laughing...."It will probably get bit anyways..." I tuna just came up and slurped it down. The fish had no white water, just picked it off the surface. Another rodeo for 20 min and Jeff beat it to crap. Tagged and released another somewhere around a 65" fish. We decided to call it a day but if we had any more pogies it didn't seem like they were goin to stop biting. I have a pogie bite, a squid bar bite, and some doubled up action on film and it will be coming to you guys soon!! Catch em up.

4 day event Day 1

July 17th:

05:00 : Departed Scituate Harbor with a crew interested in learning how to fish for BFT
06:00 : arrive 25 miles from port after answering every question three times.
07:30 : Fish ON! using pogies we hookup with a nice fish.
07:31 : Seems no one remembers the answers to their questions.
08:00 : the fish is along side and the harpoon is no where to be found we make the call to gaff the fish instead.
08:01 : I explain gaff the fish in the head not the back.
08:02 : The gaff man gets a direct hit in the middle of the back.
08:03 : The fish a 68" fatty almost pulls the gaff man overboard and runs with the gaff and breaks the line.
08:04 : Looking for my Gun.
14:00 : Fish On! Big fish smashes our bait.
14:30 : having a rodeo ride doing circles with a nice fish.
15:30 : land a nice 80" fat fish, number 3 market fish for me.
15:31 : putting my gun away.
16;30 : Just sprinkle a little water around and get me a cup of coffee.
