Went out on my friends boat, 45 viking express, judy B today. Fished 4 miles east of the tails and 3-4 miles over the edge. Got into a good bite of yellows immediately and put 7 fish (30-55lbs) in the box releasing a few shorts. Early morning pulled the tuna lures out of the water and put out a 5 rod big marlin lure spread hoping for the man in the blue suit. Short corner goes down and we fight a bigeye for an hour putting him in the boat. Bigeye was 75 inches long and 54 inches round. Not sure of the weight but it had to go at least 250lbs maybe more. Great day on the water pulled the plug before noon as we had no room for more fish, back in Barrington RI by 4:00pm. Had my 12 and 15 year old boys with us today which was extra special.
    thanks Ted

Nice report Stikezone, hoping to get in on the bite again next week. What did the BigEye hit on the short and where was it prowling? edge, deep, warm, cold?

Thanks for the intel. Interesting, seems to be a trend, everyone I know that has boated a bigeye the last few years has got them on marlin style larger lures, rather than the typical bluefin type spread you may put out to target them. Nice catch, can we see some pics?

I'll write a report this evening but your welcome for the chumming done by Skipjack the night before to interest those fish. Good for you - all we got there were 8 bazilllion rats.
