Luhrs or Henriques?

I already kind of know the answer from a previous thread but it seems I can get a 30ft Luhrs for way less than a 30ft Henriques. That says something but if the budget just doesn't stetch then would a 30ft Luhrs really be that bad??

yup.
yup.
yup.

3 x because it takes 10 characters to post.

You get what you pay for.

The Henriques is a beast; one of the few boats I would consider as an alternative to a Carolina Classic.

There is nothing wrong with a Luhrs 90% of the time in New England. But when its blowing SW 15-20 you want a beast that will bring you home without worry.

Would you buy condoms at the dollar store because they are cheaper there. The answer is NO!

If you don't want to spend the coin on the Henriques there are many other choices on the market that are better than a Luhrs.

I knew that was the answer really. I guess I will have to save up the extra coin. I love the Henriques 28. Just seems like a monster of a fishing platform. Thanks for re-assuring my hunch.

If you would pick something else what would it be? Apart from the Carolina classic?

CC28, Henriques 30, Albemarle 30 are the top of the NE list

Cabo 31, Pursuit 30 are a hair below but also well made and a few thousand pounds lighter.

Blackfin 29 and Bertram 31 are also older tank's that would serve you well in the NE.

Gas power?

Whatever you do. Do not buy a gas boat. You will be sorry. SPend the extra for diesel.

Blackfin 29

Wow so many Blackfin fans. I am the fan club pres. for the Blackfin 29. You can get a clean one with Diesel power for around 115k. The boat is awsome in anything under 5 Feet. After that its a little small and you have to run at 18 kts. I fished one on and off for 10 years. It had Cats and cruised at 27 kts and was a really great platform for 3-4 guys to fish, more than that and it was a little small. The only problem is that there is really no fish box. The one I was on custom made 2 in deck boxes and we put a cooler between the engine boxes. Over all its a really great boat with a strong following so if you were to sell it in the future it will go pretty fast. They one I was on sold down in NC in 1-2 weeks for asking price.
