I have some use it or lose it vacation time that has to be off the books by Jan. Trying to get something together for the week of MLK day ( 1/17) to Panama, Galapago's or CR.
Anyone else have a trip half planned or filled during that week?

Went to galapagos last november. Incredible place but cant get there in 1 day. Takes 2 full days each way. Burns lots of fishing time.
Is Tropic Star booked until 2012?
Larry, I would look very hard at Panama Sportfishing Lodge and PescaPanama. We went to PescaPanama last March and had a great time. It's some of the best YFT and roosterfishing in the world. It does take time to get there, but it was well worth the trip and I know PescaPanama is running a special rate for January. They are a barge operation which is cool but not for everyone. Panama Sportfishing lodge is also very highly regarded and I am currently looking into them for our March / April trip there. Isla Muntosa provides some of the most exciting YFT fishing you will ever experience - we got 50 of them in three days fishing - from 15 - 140lbs. We lost a 150 - 175lb fish on the fly right at the boat, she had 6 inch sickles. If you have the time off, go there!
Yup - got it while I was on the Coral Star![]()

I went down and fished panama sportfishing lodge this past spring. It has the best boats, the best gear and the most hospitable staff in the area. John is the guy who runs it and he's awesome. Definitely a serious fishing resort. They just renovated in the last few years. Let me know if you have any questions or need contacts.

Have not heard the story about PescaPanama but would be interested to hear it. Rustic is the only way to describe it, but you fish hard from 7am to 6pm every day and the food was some of the best I have eaten anywhere. The inshore fishing was very poor in the third week of March when we were there, but the YFT action made up for it. Its probably one of the best, if not the best, location in the world for light tackle yft.
