I was in Panama last christmas with the ENTIRE family and never actually made it off shore, but I can tell you I did have an amazing time fishing. We stayed at Breezes in Playa Blanca beach region. We would see the birds working bait, and we decided to get a ponga with a driver and go fishing........They only understand trolling and had to work through the language barrier to teach them we wanted to cast and fly fish(we had our own gear) We were the only ones out there. We would hit a bait ball and cast and there were 30lb mahi's, tons of what I would call pacific false albies in the 15lb range, and then these fish that were like GAR's....they were like big giant snakes in the water up to 6 feet long. Great time!! there is nothing like light tackle fun with fish that pull really hard. They did have big sport fishing boats come into shore and pick up guests....no dock though,

We went have been to panama the last two years, and we stayed at panama sportfishing lodge. Never stayed anywhere else but there is no need to, John runs a great operation. The best captains there are. If you need info let me know. The fish is good down there all year. We are planning a trip back down in March. This past year was slow on marlin while we were there but the cow yellowfin were chewing. We had a 3 hour battle on spinning gear with a beast! Cant wait to go back.
