    Looking for Kona charter recommendations

I'll be in Kona late June/early July on my honeymoon and I was planning to get a day in marlin fishing. Looking for any feedback on a good boat/capt in the Kona fleet with a good marlin track record.
    Thanks in advance!!

    NORTHERN LIGHTS

I highly recommend Kevin nakamura on the northern lights, he is a class act and one of the finest captains in the world. Beautiful boat, I took the wife out with him 2 days during our honeymoon and he was totally cool to her , set her up in the chair and treated her with respect.

I know you want Marlin, but he has a custom green stick set up , we slayed the yellowfin on that thing up to 190 lbs... while no one else in the fleet was catchin.

If he is booked try and get Carlton Taniyama on the FIVE STAR.

Avoid the guy who spams all sites with his monthly kona reports, fished one day with him.. and couldnt get off his boat fast enough

I fished with Chuck Wigzell on the " Hooked Up " he regularly catches marlin when no one else does. His marlin tournaments results speak for themselves. He also has a green stick though in case you come across any big tuna in with the spinners. He has some good spots for deep jigging too.

What are you looking catch? If you are interested in marlin hands down Capt Gene Vanderhoek. He is the captain of the boat Sea Genie out of Kona Harbor. Give him a call- his cell is 808-936-4234. Sweet Rybovich. He has released the most billfish out of Kona for 4 of the past 5 years. He will not just captain but will share some valuable info if interested.

If you are looking for yellowfin/swords I would try someone else.

I've fished with Capt Jerry Allen on Sea Dancer - 31' Bertram. Smaller boat, but it raises fish - He put us on bills - Blue, couple Stripeys and short nosed spear

Hey thanks for the input guys.
I'm definitely looking to hook a blue marlin. I wouldn't be upset if we caught a spearfish either.
I've heard good things about Capt Gene.
Chuck Wigzell has a pretty good tournament record also.
    Thanks again!
