I was going to contact you privately but.......I'll be at the dock at Menemsha Friday 2 AM; we're heading out @ 3 for the canyons.

    Not.....
current models seem to show Earl is going to hit the Veatch/Hydro stretch Friday AM. We'll need the Eagle Eye II to get out there!

You picked a heck of a weekend to visit the Vineyard!

Ya it is looking to get pretty ugly around here towards the end of the week into the weekend and early into next week.
If you don't get out in the next day or so i would not plan on getting out for a while.
Sure would like to see a nice inshore bite develop south of the island again this year. Maybe after his storm.

Tell me about it! Looks like worst case is a near-miss category 2 storm. More likely a bad tropical storm.

So, any good books folks are reading this summer - preferably about an amazing offshore fishing adventure in the NE Canyons?

BTW – THANKS for the generous replies!!

Good reading? Do a search on this site for Backman's posts. Hours upon hours of good reading. Larry can be quite colorful in the vernacular with regards to his accounts of his nautical adventures.

    All good stuff LB

Honestly, that's how I found this site. He stopped writing up his memoirs on a few other sites, and the magic of google led me her. His work makes me feel like I've been to the canyon's, when the closest I've come is surfcasting ACK!

Read a book? Even if you don't get to go offshore be sure to bring a couple surf fishing outfits. The fishing possibilities from shore are almost endless and aside from the day or so when the storm blows through the rest of the weather should be fine.

Agreed! I know the lobsterville side better and if you park at the public area there in the middle of the bite walk west to where you are at the furthest point north on the beach and bingo! you are there. I will PM you a map i have at the office in the AM
