...in the 30-32 range.
I figured I'd post here, since folks in this section would probably know best.
We'd love to find something w/ somewhat of a hard chine, but I'm not current on who's offering one in a hull that size.
We're not interested in a rehab or tear down, but a new hull of proven design.
Rboats- So you just want to buy the actual hull? In this range two hulls you could look at would be Seaworthy and Duffy. I think these have a bit of a harder chine and are more of a planing hull than some of the others, but I'm certainly not an expert. If he doesn't see this thread, PM POON MAN- he has tons of experience and knowledge when it comes to downeasters.
Both the Duffy and BHM are very popular in that range. They are both manufactuered by Atlantic Boat in Brooklyn Maine. www.atlanticboat.com we run a 31' Duffy and have been very happy with her.
Wesmac's are awesome, but the smallest they make is a 36'
Alot of guys have built H&H's recently - they are good boats and have alot of beam. Conversely, Hollands are also slick, but they are really skinny -- I personally love them, but not alot of beam and they roll abit (but they also raise fish like a mother).
Shoefish, yes, hull, and maybe cap. Depending on whether the cap appeals to the owners' aesthetic preferences.
Essentially what we have is a client that is a fan of a chesapeake deadrises' running bottom, but loves a downeaster look.
Certainly Duffy comes to mind. For around here anyway, Duffy is the psuedo-downeaster. We've built on their hulls on more than one occasion. As a matter of fact, I'll post a shot of a 35 Duffy the ol' man finished out about 10 years ago.
Our client wants something like her, only smaller.
Again, thanks so much for the input. It gives me more evenues to pursue.
