Thanks for the listing Seaker, but I'm afraid it's not quite what he's looking for.
I've got some calls in to a variety of hull builders now, so we'll see how it goes.
We might just have to cold mold him one!!
I'm looking for the exact same hull size. I've looked at loads of different donweast hulls, and have come to two conclusions. 1st there are very few boats in that size range that allow you to get enough head room in the cabin and get the engines under the sole. Second of those that do meet both those requirement, there are only a few that aren't the old true displacement lobsterboat hulls that top out at 18 and cruise at 14 knots.
I've ridden the Eastern 31, the flowers 33, and the holland 32 and am waiting to ride and mdi 32 and the duffy 31. I looked at the bhm 28, the willis beal 31, and the west bay 31. I really like the ride of the holland but the engine box and the headroom is a real problem. The Flowers is a BIG 33 with a 12' beam and a 3-8 draft. The eastern is a hard chined hull that ran alot like my 20' shamrock. the chimes seemd to fight the keel heading down sea.
I'm still looking and hope to have a decision within the next month so i can have a boat built by next spring.
Osmond beal. I have a friend with a 29. Its one awsome boat with a volvo commercial grade diesel. They make a 31 I talked with a guy who has one. I looked at it. Its narrower than the 31 and faster. If I ever came acrossed some money that is what I would have built. If your interested I know where there is a 27 osmond forsale. Pm me if you want details ill be headed to the marina over the weekend. Good luck with what ever you purchase.
I have a 30' South Shore by Calvin Beal jr. It is the same hull that Chris(Poon Man) owned. It is a soft chine but it is pretty sharp for a round chine if you get what I mean. It is not a big round hull. It gets up and planes off nicely and is a rather quick boat. I have a 370hp Yanmar in mine and can get a honest 23-24knot cruise with a clean bottom. I normally only do about 19-20 though burning 6-8gph. At 19knts it can go through anything a 35 Duffy can and more. Had more than one customer and/or friends tell me that in a good head sea. As far as headroom, I don't have a lot, I could have more if the floor was set lower but I wanted the floor space instead. Engine box is a must though on this boat without some big customizing. Mine is not set up as the bass boat style as you showed in the pic. but are more than welcome come down for a sea-trial on a crappy day if you like.
A 31 JC Provinctown is set up similar to what you are looking for. Bass boat style,no engine box, and good headroom. I think they are the same or very similar to the 31 Eastern mentioned.
