Completed pen is sitting in my garage waiting to go into the water. Thanks for these plans, I was able to get everything I needed at Home Depot with the exception of the plastic mesh which I had to go online for. Total cost for the project came in right around $50 and assembly really wasn't that difficult.
I will post during the season to report on how the grand mackerel experiment goes in the river, and thanks again to all of guys for your insights...
Not bad at all- and a good way to keep busy in the offseason.
My only real concern is lifespan of the pen, as don't forget we are talking about pvc and snap-ties here. My goal is to see if I can keep bait alive this season where I'm located and if I'm successful I will probably build something more heavy-duty (and costlier) in the future.
Very usefull info, do any of you have experience with keeping bait for long periods of time in the Weymouth back river/ Hewitts cove. There is current there, but nothing like the North river.
Thanks,
Rodney
Be prepared to pull and clean on a periodic basis. Little bit of slime/growth is good (protects the bait from rubbing up against), but depending on a number of conditons, sea growth can really build up.
home depot has the plastic mesh in the fencing dept. its black 1/2" square holes..about 17 bucks...called pvc poultry net...dont forget the zip ties wile your there....
