a little late but better than never

ok ok so i just realized that i forgot to post the report on here for last monday!! it's been a hectic week, my gramma passed away and its been a revolving door of family so my head hasn't really been in the internet game but anyway here's what happened on May 31st.

went out on my buddy john's 26 fortier (graybeard) fished the backside of the cape buddy hunting tuna with seaworm. come tight after 10 min. on short corner but pull hook just into the fight cuz seaworm called and the captain left the helm to answer his cell phone!! about an hour later after bailing the stripers in the 20 to 30 pound class we come tight again but break off the fish due to outrigger clip malfunction!!! so...back to hauling in trophy bass for a while when AGAIN we come tight (third times always the charm) this time we've got him but he almost spools us on a 50t with braid. I could see the color of the spindle at the bottom of the spool!!! we gain on him and he then proceeds to take us into and wrap around not just one pot but TWO....with a little handy work we manage to free the fish no f'n way we were losing this one! and after a 45 minute battle johns friend sinks the harpoon in him and he's ours 69" of beatiful sushi!
again sorry about the delayed post will not happen again no matter what happens!

    Tyke,

Greybeard is a beautiful boat and John is a heck of a fisherman. Glad you fought through adversity and nailed one.

    Mike

P.S. Prayers go up for your grandmother.

I grew up with my parent's boat in West Falmouth Harbor... My Uncle's boat is in West Falmouth (Skibbereen). Judging by your age in the picture, you may know his sons/ my cousins from the Old Silver Band. I was in West Falmouth for years...

There are not a lot of fishermen in West Falmouth Harbor. John, my Uncle and I (when I was there) were really the only ones on moorings who fished a lot. Everyone else was day sailors and cruisers....

There is a surprisingly small membership in the "Fellowship of the Afflicted" when it comes to offshore fishing....
