lake erie smallmouth bass fishing with tim braun
lake erie buffalo ny 6/15/09. smallmouth bass fishing on lake erie in buffalo ny in early spring can be great. fish are pre and post spawn that tim of year. casting tube jigs ,stick baits, dropshotting will produce nice smalies.live bait (emerald shinners) also works well when the water is still cold . on june 15 2009. numa and his buddy gregory (they are from south france) never caught a smallmouth . water temp was in the mid 50 range .depth was 32 to 38 feet of water . light south west wind . green pumkin tube baits along with drop shotting berkeley gulp gobys .both numa and gregory ,started landing big smallies. casting and poping the tube bait back to the boat produced for numa a 7.4 lb slob.gregory was not far behind with a 6.3lb fish. both men caught plenty of smallmouth and had a great time on the water .when on the lake look for deep water that has boulders patches and shell beds.also in skinny water rocky bottom and sandy or gravel flats.
