thursday 4-15-10. lake erie was calm in the morning . cold front on the way . good early morning bite .fish were shallow .swim baits stop and go retreive worked well . casting tube baits , letting them hit the rocks triggered bites also . fish were solid 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 lb. a couple of bigger fish were in the skinny water . 4 plus . afternoon a nice chop on the water. deeper water smallmouth (28 to over 40 ft). live bait (emerald shinners) on a three way riged worked well . drop shot rig with a Zman swim bait in gloden shinner pattern caught fish also . the old stand by . tube jigs (my favorite bait ) verticle jiged ,brought several smallies to the boat . the deeper smallmouth were clones same as the fish in the shallows. fish are still bunched up in the deeper water and slugish. rain and wind for the next couple of days . see what next week has to offer. for charter info contact tim at bigbasstmb@roadrunner.com
