Labrador Hooks a Keeper Today on Squid Bars
The tip of the southwest corner was alive this morning for the first bite as I put out three of Taylor Sears squid bar rigs on my 50's. The rigs were out for about 45 minutes and we hooked a beauty.
I had my twin nephews on the Labrador today and they helped their dad reel in their first tuna. A 52" fish is an amazing sight for a couple of 6th graders/aspiring anglers - especially since they helped me gaff it and bring it on board. They also learned how to properly prep a BFT - from bleeding to steak-ing. From there we headed to the Race where each boy hooked their own striper - 30" & 32". A great day for all of us.
As far as my fellow anglers are concerned - the Riddler caught a keeper for their charter at the SW corner. Makin' it Happen caught a keeper out east- 74" and off to market. Congrats to Andy and Billy. The Fortuna had a bit of a slow day, Greg was out for a half-day and was not looking for BFT's.
The moral of the story is - the small fish are in and they are chewing on rubber!

I've got Banannas
picking up
Hey Donny, it's nice to see the bite picking up on rubber. Those are perfect size fish for young anglers. Nice work and thanks for the report.
P.S. Looks like you had ideal sea conditions for a day out with the family.
