Saturday,I had a pc of yellowfin I cought at the hyrdro late Aug. that i bled, gutted, iced and vacume packed and froze all with in 24hr and it was just OK , kinda turning to brown from pink.

My wife defrosted a pc of mako from July this morning (preped and frozen the same way) and that thing looks like it is going to take another run and spool me!

    any insight?

I have read that a quick dip in asorbic acid bath will keep the color.

The Marunaka page that simonsez1 posted a link to is incorrect. It's obviously a typographical error. Various other auction reports are showing this mornings low price for N.C. Bluefin to be 3000 Yen/kg.

That Marunaka page is notoriously unreliable. A couple weeks ago it showed a high price of 150000 Yen/kg when the actual high price that day was only 15000/kg.

I didn't know the website was so unreliable.

How do I get these other auction reports?

It's not bogus. The Marunaka page is just prone to typos and other mistakes. It also shows only limited information. It's almost useless without the individual tuna sizes, which dealer shipped the fish, which auction company sold it, grades, etc...

You should be asking your dealers to provide you with proper market reports. There is no reason for them not to share some of their information with their loyal suppliers...

Heli sport, you know your stuff, great info. Thanks
if the pei guys towed there fish for an hour, they must be doing circles.. just about every pic i have seen from there, theres dirt in the background.

For somebody whom lists their job as "expensive dead fish sales" you know surprisingly little about this. This is not the first time you have shown how little you know in this area and many others. Why type for the sake of typing, sometimes maybe give the fingers a rest and just read. Just sayin......

Thats what someone who fished up there this year told me they did to maximize the price. Yes they fish very close to shore so they are probably doing circles. I think they have the fish so dialed in they can take the time in between hookups because they know they will be tight as soon as they start chumming again. They have massive schools of mackerel to fish over.
