keep one in the wash

let you guys no,i got 8 fish this year over 70'' two over 73 one last sat was 81''nice fat one, they all hit my riggs that were in the wash of the labrador .or just a little past it.great spot for a rig.when there are alot of weeds in the water like there has been in cape cod bay i keep all of them short.and run 1 to 2 bars max.that lets you be more affective at keeping stuff clean .you can get your riggs in and out much faster and back in fishing, were they need to be.try it, good luck.

Thanks for the tip Capt. Do you find one color works better over another in the wash, and one size squid better then the other?

good tip; I have found an asymmetrical diamond w/ 2 ballyhoo and 2 bars; ballyhoo long and longer, bar short and shorter a reasonable compromise. Multiple bar's on one side are usually a recipe for salad.

funny - now that I buy a case at a time I find them "cheap" insurance. A dozen medium ballyhoo costs me ~20$ and its a sure bet if a dozen get eaten in a day; at least one will have a tuna on it.

Took me a little while to figure out that losing a few hoos was cheaper than having the blue devils chewing up your squid bars

I have been fishing with donny now for 4years. I would have to say at least half the fish we catch on that boat are in the wash about 10ft behind it. All have been on bright/dark colors (good and plenty, trick or treat being the main bar, and rootbeer). All have something in common. One side of the squid is dark and the other side is bright. Ask sushi42, my father, and of course donny. I think they will know what I am talkin about.
I have gone through over 45 good and plenty bars and 60 trick or treat bars this year! I just don't know what these fish are thinkin down there?

FO's Hot tomato or Black with the red stripe Orange with the lipstick and the Black with the Green glow stinger have worked for me in the summer The Pink with blue dots takes over in the fall in the wake position.
It's cheaper to buy a flat of macks and rig them in daisy chains than hoo A 25# flat is 30$ and you can pick the sizes. Herring is only 22$ a flat and works even better
Rigging them to swim is easy If you can rig hoo you can rig these 2 as well. I have been screwing around with bluefish up to 15#s. That also works
