We had an Awesome day on Stellwagon Sunday with three hookups with the largest and first fish, a fat 64" BFT. We tagged and released two others in the 55"-62" size range. It looks like the same group of fish that were 57"+/- last year are back and significantly bigger and stronger.
We are really so fortunate to have this kind of fishery so close to home and need to really try to make it sustainable. We are talking about using the light gear wisely this season so when we release these fish, they have a reasonable shot at survival. What a great way to start the season and it is amazing that we have so many fish early and such an abundance of bait.
We are going to go up North for a few days of Giant Fishing but will be back for charters Friday and the weekend. We had a group that had to reschedule for this Sunday so we have an open date if anyone is interested.
The Fish should start to settle in on bank in the next week or so. Plenty of bait and activity to keep them there hopefully.
You guys are picking up right where you left off- congrats on a great first trip. I'm not sure if you're sticking or using rod and reel but it'd be great to hear of some of the northern fish caught on rod and reel...not having to run to Stellwagon would be great. Best of luck, hook 'em up!
Nice start to the season for you guys. I hope to see some more giant slaying video from you guys when you get back from up north, best of luck up there.........
