BTW, we call the "correct" tool for bending rebar on-site a hickey bar. And I can bend up to number 11 rebar without cracking. Anything after that and we put heat to it. I can bend up to #6 rebar into a circle without "cracking" it. And no, leader wire and rebar are two totally different animals. And to be clear, #18 malin wire is 350 lb. test rated. I can assure you that aside from using a sledge to make a hard 90 degree turn you won't ruin the integrity enough to have your shark leader break while fighting a fish. You will only be putting 45 lbs. of drag on this terminal tackle tops, so unless I'm way way off on my calculations, there is "no possible" way to break this wire. We caught two very large shark specimens last year in the canyons, the first an estimated 800 lb. hammerhead, the second a six hundred pound tiger. Both were caught with number 11 wire haywired and barrel rolled with vice grips and linesman pliers. That number wire is rated for 140 lb. test! Is that also "not possible". Guess I'm not playing nice tonight ha.

So I guess that I own and run a plant that has several approved production lines producing to ANSI standards and is also approved for production by three state DOTs and is audited by a thrird party QC firm monthly, makes me a pin head.

go read up on bending rebar. 7.3 ACI 318 to be exact.
