Honestly, this is the quitest winter I can remember. I have very few reported posts of drama

This is a national site with a variety of locales represented. Their are sites out there that are regional, you may find what you are looking for. There are some national sites that have no traffic and hardly anyone on them. 67,000 registered members and over 2 million Unique

Remember you don't have to click on the threads that have drama.

Even if you fish purely for fun, there is no way to avoid the politics/management aspect of fishing. I mean, you can ignore that aspect of it, I guess, but do not be surprised if a few years down the road when they tell you that you cannot fish anymore! I know you are saying that somewhat tongue in cheek, but bottom line is that many of these issues are impossible to avoid.

I was going to say that I thought there had been a lot less arguing here than elsewhere this winter. Either way, late spring/summer/fall cannot get here soon enough!

PS- I am going to ignore the non-commercial comment, hopefully you do not have a problem talking with those that have many of the same interests as you but fish commercially.

If an ESA listing passes, BY LAW you will not be able to fish by any method or means anywhere Bluefins of any size might be present ("harass, attempt to capture, etc") ... that means everywhere from the Claw to Welker's to Platt's if you have a hook in the water you can be fined and that's just fact ...

and here is the scariest thing of all.

So the entire New England fishing fleet would be impacted. Lobster boats, draggers, scallop draggers, gill netters.

If anything I was going to say that it has been pretty quiet around here all winter. There were no baby tuna killing threads or anything like in years past and seems like everyone has been getting along.
