Dogs, dogs and more dogs. Herring available in deep water. Dogs in just about all depths. Unfishable at anchor. No boats at anchor. Saw some splashes fished 3 different areas. Dragged some rubber. I hate trolling. No time for a nap.
We were out yesterday too. We were dragging rubber, and covered the prong, high ground around the cove, 1st and second island, the curl, and the backside of the curl. We saw a ton of whales in the 1st island area as well as some jumbers. We marked bait and a few awesome tuna marks in the same area.
The fish had seen our spread and didn't want it so we dropped down to find something to put on the kite, and about (literally) two dozen dogfish came up with the one that was hooked. I carefully removed the jaws of the doggie so it wouldn't bite anyone and released it .
If these dogs don't let up, it will literally be unfishable this season.
Saw a huge shark on the surface near the curl and tried to get close to see what it was but it faded away- it was either a baskerville or a white. Couldn't get close enough for a good ID.
Saw a huge shark there my self out in deep water. Thought it was a sunfish at first. Had a guest on the boat that hadn't seen one before, so we trolled over to it and nearly ontop of it (literally). Realized at the last moment as I was passing by it that it was a shark. Dunno what kind. But it was ha-uge.
Agree on unfishable. I'll have to start paying attn more to the trolling threads.
We went from frontside to backside to pigeon hill to boon ledge. Dogs everwhere.
