    Jeffreys Tuna?

Due to all the tournament (freshwater) bass fishing I've been doing, I've only gotten out to the salt twice this year. Planning a few tuna trips soon and I'm wondering if anyone has been seeing any school tuna on S/central Jeffreys as of late?
    Thanks guys

hooked and lost a giant sat on so jeffs. Blind strike on a drifted live Mack. Saw Plenty of jumpers from the rocklike to the cove, curl, to the islands. Just up and down fast. If you find the secret to making than bite, let me know. Big sharks out there too.

    Hey Fintan
Not a whole lot of organized activity out there....I spent Sat & Sun last w/e out there......we hooked a 70" range fish and fought him for 40 min, lost on a wrapped leader & broken rod guide.....

Bait is there but small/small pods of fish - pop up and go....all over the place....hard to follow

Thanks very much for the info guys. Sounds a lot like what was going on out there around this time last year as I remember it.

I was out on a whale watch (from Newburyport) on Tuesday. We headed out to Jeffreys Ledge, but all the tuna I saw were West of the ledge. I would say we were due North of Rockport, maybe 6-7 miles. Fish were jumping clear out of the water, 2:30-3:30PM (now that i think of it, I believe that was around slack). I couldn't see what they were on, but assume macks and/or sand eels. There were a few birds scattered, but it didn't look "fishy" and the fish were very spread out. They were not staying up, pushing or blitzing, but just a jump here or there. Most seemed <59" for what it's worth. Anyway...that's all I got.

I second what "Cindylou" said. Lots of school fish inside Jeffries. I was out on Friday morning and most of the fish I saw were 7-8 miles from the Mouth of the merrimack. Up then down quickly. Havent figured out what they will bite on. I think they are chasing tinker macks not sure though. Caught and released a 70" last week just east of the shoals on a live mack.

Not staying up is the word for 2010......fished Friday PM out at Boon Is and again for 6 hrs til dark last night....

We chased pods of 1-z's and 3-z's and only a few pods of maybe 10 fish......if we weren't on them within 30 secs, they were down and gone......only to MAYBE appear like 1 mile away

Tons of birds mark the bait......but there's no guarantee of fish under them
