you make a good point. Some of your list did remind me of a few things. I actually copied it for a reference.
Wait till you see the boat he is currently finishing up it will be a boat to absolutely DIE FOR! He is chronicling the build on another site that is pay only but I can confirm this boat is awesome and there has been nothing left out or to chance. The best of everything and craftsmanship that I personally have never seen before. She is the most beautiful and sexy 50 SF I have seen and her name Stradivarious! Perfection!

I hope he doesn't mind me posting a sneak peek????

The build is documented on this site in the Boats section. There is no need to go elsewhere:

The custom build continues; A photo update.

I didn't factor in a new kitchen for my wife either but that's what we as men have to do if we're to survive.
The thing that gets me is the house is less than 4 years old. We purchased it from a couple that had lived in it for a year before he was relocated. We had a great kitchen in our last houes but we needed more room for the growing family so we moved and at the time we got a great deal. The compromise was the kitchen. But we got the rooms we needed.

My sister in-law has a high end kitchen business, and now that my project is close to completion, I'm springing for a new custom gourmet kitchen. Better than the one we had in our last house. I just thank god that it’s wholesale, thank god!

I guess I'm getting off easy.

But does she need a new kitchen? No, she wants a new kitchen. Did I need a Navnet 3D black box set up, You bet your ass I did. I deserve it.

I see where someone put up a link and a photo to my project. Last night I was just having fun listing some of the things that I've purchased along the way. Looks like the cat is out of the bag.

Let's get your thread about your plan back on track.

There probably isn't a better time to build than right now since you can get it built for the right money.

From your numbers the hull with engine, steering house and everything else seems to be a very good deal.

If you really do your homework you can keep your material costs down especially if you can find someone that can work with you to insure you're getting builders discount on everything.

There are guys out there that freelance and can save you money in the long run. For example the electricians I'm using came highly recommended and since I let them use my project as a fill in, they were able to save me money on labor costs. Same holds true for our systems guy. He discounted his labor costs, made plans on his own time and we accommodated him as he was available.

The key is to get builders discounts on all of your materials. When one of the local companies went under recently we went and purchased materials that we needed for a song.

We even have some left over materials that I was going to sell once we were done.

When the base crew is done with my boat they're going to have some time on their hands and although you're making a charter boat these guys could do that very cost effectively.

Anyone in need of a 4 year old kitchen?

Ya Doug I got that from a friend that is why I think we "will" be going with CAT plus Captain Dave / My Brother In law and partner in crime is a CAT mechanic.

Although I do like the specs of Yanmar and the low profile and weight.

We can buy an outside warantee from an insurance company but I still think CAT is probably the best. Plus they troll up fish.
