HR 3619 Sec 301 Alert

I just received a notice from my charter boat captain's association that the 2010 US Coast Guard Authorization Act, when passed by the US House, contained Sec 301 which authorizes state and local governments to levy new "sales taxes" on goods and services on navigable waters. This means that sport fishing charters, whale watches, harbor cruises could be subject to new sale taxes. This section does nothing to support the USCG it is just a vehicle to impose a new tax on the industry.



I urge everyone to contact their US Senator and ask them to oppose the inclusion of Sec 301 when this bill goes to conference.
