At 100 fish per boat, 20 boats per day, 5 days fishable per week - 10K cod and haddock hitting the dock each week.

I am sure its all the draggers fault in dimnishing fisheries.

Really Larry???????? or are you just that ignorant? This fishery is a regulated public resource. The people travelling here to catch their ten cod per person and a few haddock or pollock to bring home to Pennsylvania or Ohio or New Jersey are doing something wrong? Six guys on the boat have every right to a couple hundred legal fillets, so basically what i am saying is go stuff it. A dragger can make a thirty thousand pound tow in one swoop. The two do not even equate, I think you should seriously re-evaluate your attack on the charter/recreational groundfish sector. I have personally never seen so many fish in my life and I have been groundfishing for 16 years and guys on here have been doing it longer and are saying the same thing.

How many fish do you kill in a year? Probably more then the guy that goes on one
or two, even six charters a year. Focus on the real problem.

I made a cautionary post about the Block Island fishery to the same effect and got slammed pretty good on another forum....

There is an argument for the Block Island fishery, the fish are small and party boats are UNLIMITED, it is all because of the politics of Frank Blount and his party boats. The fishery we have in the gulf of maine is a six month regulated fishery and the banner fishing we have only last about two months....so again I suggest when you cast stones atleast know what you are talking about...

Would you prefer one of those mind-numbing 1200 word creative writing exercises complete with what the captain had for breakfast, 3 paragraphs on how well his boat ran, ridiculous exagerations about the fish size, and of course the classic zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz every time they say they had a bite?
