Charter Boats
We always tell our customers we are only taking home what you are taking home to eat. Once we have lets say 30 pollock we ask them if they will use that fish and do you need and want more. Once we know that answer we either continue to fish or move on to other areas for other species. This gang buster fishing only lasts so long and the fish disperse to other deeper areas and many boats shift to tuna fishing.
As far as limits go, once again we do not always reach our limits and those current limits are what make customers drive for ten hours to fish with us. By lowering the limits lets say in half you have totally killed the industry. To me it would be like taking the current limits of lobster traps and reducing them in half. Guys would not make it, it is all about being a responsible charter boat captain and I believe most here are.
