    Herring Pair Trawlers Kill Humpback

    http://www.boston.com/news/local/bre...?p1=News_links

The whale was entangled between two of the pair trawlers, they spent over two hours trying to free it, then (guess what) washes up dead ... acres of dead stripers, uncounted tuna, devastating the herring stocks (landings at less than 10% of normal this year) ... maybe THIS will wake up the public/politicians ...

Could you imagine what would happen if a TUNA fishermen in his/her boat ran over this whale? I think the whole fishery would be shut down to protect whales and other marine life. But no, don't touch the pair trawlers, they don't kill and rape and pillage the ocean.......

Is there another link that mentions the pair trawlers? I didn't see that mentioned in the story...

I saw it early Sun AM as we headed out of the cut. It was gone by the time we got back. Heard 2nd hand that it was buried that day.

I would think this should happen all the time with all the bait and whales up your way! Hate to hear about acres of dead stripers. But, in CT we have our draggers that discard unwanted species or size catch.
