For an experienced boatman, with the appropriate safety gear and good weather that should be a nice ride. That said you need to remember to never underestimate the power of the ocean and know that things can go to shit real fast. Enough gloom and doom if she is running good, you're prepared and the weather is fine. Go for it. I still hear the oldtimers talk about their annual Harvey skiff race from QYC to P-town, those were rental wooden dories with small two strokes. My point is be careful, get some experience first
and enjoy yourself it isn't the moon. Know your limits and your boat's as well.

my boat has always been on a mooring, but some times i fish with friends that launch and man i have seen some idiots. at about 3 am pitch black we are already tied up waiting for bait and here comes a trailer full speed in reverse person at helm engine up and running un hooked then slams on breaks, flys in reverse off trailer and almost hits wakeupcall which is a very large expensive boat who don't know the Scituate waters... i believe the owner even got pissed and the operator kept saying "its alright" as he lowers his running outboard into the water. and this was a 18ft center console wide open no top, nothing. i think i saw a compass and a single tuna rod, if you haven't been off shore don't do it in a small boat, some1 on here will take you out.

Click on the picture for video, do you want to run 40 miles in this???

But then again Chit goes wrong with bigger boats also

Pick your days, watch the weather and and know when its time to head back to the barn, and yes it can be rewarding...

Yep, you got yer teeth kicked in pretty good on that ride home all right. BTDT, no fun involved. Glad you made it back to the barn with just a fine lesson.

The best way to know it is a Troll is that I posted...I never seem to post unless the question is so far off that it is a Troll.
