We did our annual cod trip with Capt Ken Roth yesterday. Had some incredibly great weather and absolutely loaded up on haddock. We were just short of our limit on cod, but nobody cared!
Started out slow but Ernie was jigging (more like snagging) fish and dropping fish on the deck before the rest of got a bite. We had a lot of shorts to start the day but were picking off keepers in between the throwbacks. We were loading up on the cod early and then the haddock started to mix in.
My nephew Tim was on his first ever cod trip and was introduced to some jigging and snot fishing. He caught on real quick and contributed his share to the tote along with the rest of us.
Ken put us on the fish all day. There were few lulls in the bite but they became a very welcome rest from hauling on these fish. I never thought I’d say that. We stopped counting the numbers half way though this trip. Didn’t get many pictures or much video because when we had the fish it was pretty furious on the deck.
The fish weren’t huge, but there were a lot of them.
Can’t say enough good about Ken and Haley Elizabeth Charters and another great trip with him.
I used to fish with Ken Sr. back in the late sixties and early seventies. We both belonged to a fishing club " South Shore Salt Water Sportsmen " While we a small club there were some of the best bass fishermen in the area. I learned alot from the likes of Ken and the rest of the group.
