Great weekend on Stellwagen, unless you were a tuna..

.....that got within casting distance of my boat.

Had the same group Friday and Saturday, and they got 10 bites the 1st day and 3 the second for a total of 8 hookups with half of them to the boat, with 3 clean releases on mid 60 inch fish, and a nice slot fish on Saturday. Would have had a better land ratio but trying to get one of those mid to high 60 inch fish under control isnt all that easy, and we lost several right near the boat while trying to manuever them in for a lip gaff.

Todays 2 man crew hooked 4 fish, but had some tough luck with a straightened hook on a monster they fought for an hour and never got close, one busted off on a flyer, a slot fish right at gaff as he found the underside of the boat and chaffed the leader, and a clean release on a mid 60 inch fish.

Lots of improvement over the dismal pick in August we have suffered through.

For any of you looking to get in on some topwater fun, there are alot of slot fish around right now and they are a blast on the light tackle, especially when they are on half-beaks. I still have some open dates available in September, and a handful in October. A few random pics from the past few days.

If you look closely at the first one, there is a fish that came up to look at a jig on the right side of screen, but didnt hit it.
