    Giving up Tuna Fishing....

Recieved a invite from my friend scott to fish a top secret lunker spot, I was sworn to secretcy on this spot, so please no PMs I will not respond Seriouosly, I was told never to mention this spot

Friends keep trying to get me to try Ice fishing, they say its a lot of fun and the fish hit very hard, not knowing what kind of lunkers patrol this habitat and not wanting to be undergunned, I brought a varity of gear..

After my first massive strike, I knew I was undergunned, I brought out the heavy gear which consisted of a Diawa Dogfight with 80 JB hollow core to a 100# streamline wind on leader... First drop down I was crushed, the fish quickly took drag on me, until I locked the drag down to 60 pounds, at that time I stopped this massive fish dead in its tracks, at this moment I knew I had a chance of landing this extremely saught after fish, Scott was ready with the gaff as the fish neared the hole, but then we had another problem.....

No way was this beast coming through that hole, scott was quick to grab the chainsaw and make a 4x4 opening, with a perfect gaff shot this fish was ours

I have never been so exhausted in all my life, No tuna has ever come close to the fight I had today

Can't wait to get back out on 2 inches of ice and risk my life for one of these giants again... Its gonna be a long winter  God I miss the salt so much already

Check out the bend in this rod.........

    The beast from the East...

Nice gaff shot, you may want to think about purchasing one of my new modified "Ice Poons", it is the same as my standard 10' harpoon, but shrunk down to just under 18" and makes a great stocking stuffer for Xmas, the only thing I need to figure out is that the poly ball does not fit through the standard 12" ice hole Man it going to be a long winter!!!

Did you use a block (come-along) to haul that monster onto the ice?

I hate it, hopefully we get some warm rain to open up some of our duck holes. I dont like breaking up ice for duck hunting.
