Best of luck !!

Ive researched and read and spoken with just about everyone that has their hands involved with the regs. There is no one set of defining rules. Depending on who you speak to,(Cecil in Boston @ DMF) they are telling you different things. I have come to the conclusion that I will get a note notarized and signed by the woman in charge of gillnet permitting, stating that Im allowed to gillnet in all state waters (defined as waters that rise and fall abutting land out to 3 nautical miles with NO restrictions, as I was told) as long as I have a permit. I have followed the rules as best I can interpret them. I have a gillnet endorsement, commercial liscense, bait dealers permit, marked my net as required, yet I still feel like Im not doing something rite?? It sux. I dont want any issues because Im trying to get afew pogies for bait !! Why arent aset of regs issued with the permit like any other liscense?? Too easy

Fffiisshh0, did you review the CMR for mass? the link is as follows: http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dmf/comme.../cmr_index.htm

Go to section 4.14, it spells out all regulations there.

This is the scary thing about the DMF. You get three different answers from two different people, both of which claim to be the authority on the issue, and they'll only be in on the first Tuesday of a new moon from 10:15 am - 10:16 am.

That place drives me nuts. We work closely with some oyster farmers on Cape Cod. The hoops we have to jump through to get permits is ridiculous. They seem to have no problem inspecting us like clockwork 3 times a month.
