Giants South of Block?
Well we're hearing the rumblings, and it looks like good timing as our new gas tank is done, and we'll have it in by the weekend.
If you were to specifically target giants, how would YOU do it?I've never fished with a kite, and don't own one yet,so that's out. Dragging meat down deep with a planer? Large live bait?(I like this one) Any replies will be appreciated, thanks,Bobby. |

I have never fished them South. Out east live medium blues drifted work well. Also stick baited mackeral or herring work nicely.
Slack tide is key out east. |

Typically about the 3rd week of August you have a good shot at Giants at Block. (conditions, bait, weather, etc. all play their part. Herring, bunker & bluefish around 3.5-5.0 lbs work great. For the live bluefish we have used with success black glad garbage bags blown up to be used as a float to keep the bluefish in the zone. On the kite live bunker works great and of course herring and the such down deep. Drifting as well as anchored depending on boats fishing. Good luck when you go. I'll be fishing several times in the coming weeks myself.

Thanks Paraman
Basically, that's what we were planning anyway, but it'll depend what we can get our grubby paws on for livies.Whether it'll be bunker, blues, scup, fluke,or whiting,is anybody's guess. Thanks again to all who replied.Bobby.

Carl, they were around more closer to the Fairway Buoy. We did raise any while we were trolling, then again we had the big bars out.
