Capt. Eric, your direct quote was " I'll remember you" to the "young kid, 18yrs old, driving the center console."

Just curious, how will you remember him? If he comes in your shop, will you recognize him, call him out and refuse to sell him gear? Will you refuse his ticket purchase to your next seminar?
Or, will you "remember" him the next time you are out and lob a 3 oz. at his boat? Doubtful that you'd do that.

Or will you not do squat?

As a first hand observer to the incident, it kind of sounded like a tacit threat you made to an 18yr old kid? just curious- you're calling out someone for an anonomous email posting on a chat board; how is your radio-threat any different? I'll remember you=I'll fix you=I'll get you? Over the radio? yeah right.

If you must get on the radio (is there any doubt that it is your voice heard more than any other out there?)( is there such thing as VHF SPAM?), try a more courteous approach. It could work wonders. I know if someone threatens me on the blower, I might cut you off just for fun. Noone takes kindly to the approach you took on sunday morning, regardless of fault. Be the bigger man out there. Staying off the radio is a sure-fire way to avoid controversy and confusion all together. Bear off and circle back if the congestion is that bad; or stay out of the melee altogether.
Congrats on your successful business- It does sound like some jealousy of your professional success is the driver behind a lot of the sniping. Thats pretty obvious from this observers' perspective. Just remember, every time you get on the horn, you are making an impression out there. You are the "Director of First Impressions" for your business. Think about that before threatening an 18 yr old kid, huh?

If you're talking about the 32 foot Regulator that was "steaming" off my transom as I was fighting a fish and the same boat who was "steaming" through the fleet of troll boats working a school of fish than what are you talking about. That kind of behavior by a boat in a fleet is so bad and if you want to deal with it then go ahead. It seems that I can not win here. I am blamed for all the bad boat tactics that happen out east and now I am blamed for trying to stop it and educate someone about how to act when fishing. This boat was "Steaming" through and around the fleet at 20 knots running and cutting off any and all boats there. That is not how to fish. He was hailed by several boats, not just me, and choose to ignore everyone. When he steamed by my friend and way to close to me when I was fighting a fish I let him know how I felt. I am sure I will see that boat out there again and what goes around comes around in this world. That is not a threat that is just life. Karma is everything and you either take a stand for things that matter or your lie down and take it. I have never not yielded to boat who was hooked up, not ever. I have always moved and it didn't matter who it was. But to each their own, what would you like me to do. What can I say, you have your views and I have mine. If the young man walked into my shop and brought up the incident I would be more than willing to try and help explain what to do in that situation. His tactics didn't work and he never hooked up but he certainly screwed it up for the other boats there. But to defend that Regulator's behavior is beyond me. That was some of the worst boat handling with in a fleet I have ever seen. Maybe you disagree but that is how I saw it. Who knows how old the guy was, he was young, but he was at the helm of a 32 foot vessel and what he was doing was very wrong. I speak up when it affects me, and whether I loose a sale because of it or not doesn't concern me. That is something that has always seperated me from others, good or bad. But I thank you for your views. Period. Capt. Eric

Funny how most of the people come here saying "Dont come on our sfc and bash anyone you F%$^ing B#^* mot&%er F75*er" because they don't like what he has to say or This site is for SPORTfishermen", when i believe we have a comm. section. Or "these type of people give nothing to sfc" when that person has 2-14 posts and just signed up this month. It seems some people finally signed up just to post this thread. I believe this site was made for this type of discussion. Some ppl think that if you don't agree with the crowd your using the site for the wrong reason, the famous "thats not what this site is for". If they're so wrong in they're postings, why hasnt admin banned them??? Becaues its a good debate and a good topic that brings DISCUSSION to sfc. Good or bad its still good ratings for the site.

I know that this is certaintly the wrong forum to be doing this, but I wanted to intruduce myself to this site on this thread seeing as how it has gotton attention from so many on the board. My name is Fred, many of you know me from other venues, as well as having shared the cockpit with me on various boats.

I take EXTREME pleasure in killing tuna. BABY TUNA. Nothing gives me more pleasure than putting so much weight behind my harpoon that not only does the dart blow straight through the juvenile bluefins body, but a few inches of the the main shaft tears violently into that pilot hole. The crimson aftermath trully makes my dick move.

Its what I do. I kill shit. With a dark smile on face that would startle even the most seasoned pychiatrist.

And my spelling has been known to suck... get used to it.
I'll be seeing you on the water

Said this before; here it is again......when someone gets out of line and you call them a dou***bag, a**hole, et cetera, you have just descended to their level. They are wrong, and so are you.

I know commercial fishermen who are wonderful people, and I know charter and sporties who are idiots. And vice versa. The problem seems to be when people want to set themselves apart from others, usually better (so they think).

Saying "I'll remember you" when someone has just steamed through a fleet of hooked-up and fishing boats seems an extremely gentlemanly thing to do.

I have been very discouraged at all the acrimony on this board....where is the moderator to delete abusive and/or offensive posts? If there ain't one, (and it does seem that way) it's up to us. Don't reply to the insult; if you do, don't use gutter language. Ever seen people get into a big heated argument with bad language? People leave the scene in a hurry, nobody likes being around it. It's the same on a board like this.....I don't wanna read this crap. By that I mean abuse and insult, not just disagreement.

Treat people with respect, whether or not they treat you with respect. You can't control how they behave, but you sure can control how you behave. C'mon guys, this site could go right down the drain if this continues!! Let's clean it up!!!!

Bottom line is, respect is a two way street. As a charter/headboat category permit holder who mainly commercially fishes for tuna, HD (heavyduty) should be aware that there are talks for reducing the minimum size to 65, if in theory it passed, he along with myself would take fish that were 65 inches to sell.(i doubt it will pass) Now he is calling them babies but if they were legal they would die and he knows it. To quote another post, SHUT UP AND FISH,HD, or cites might end it all. If it tastes good and is legal, I too, love to kill shit, blame the laws, not other fisherman who are doing what we all love to do, FISH.

You have quite a funny way of thinking. In this case a person (Heavy Duty)'s only reason for subscribing to this site and logging on each day is to bash a very well respected captain and tackle shop owner that not only has helped alot of recreational fisherman on this site catch our first tuna (myself included) but is also a SUPPORTER of this great site. Not only has he cast the first stone but continues to throw them. If you can't understand that then you got to pull your own head out of your own ass!
