If your livelihood is based soley on what the sea has to offer, in these economic times your problem is not with Eric, it is with a bad decision you sir continue to make.

when we used to troll big fish in june and july, if we got more than a few shorts in an hour we would move...it was always common knowledge to LEAVE THE SHORTS ALONE....but hey you came to town and made a business outta catching em and you brag that your the best and fish soooo many days...please, you catch rats

If the regulators were to change the regs and allow you to take the very same fish he is targeting please tell me you would not take advantage of the opportunity? Me thinks that you and others in the comm end of the business would jump at the chance. Coming online and griping about something that none of us have any control over is truly bad form and makes you look like a high school pouter. You should be aiming your attacks directly at the people/organizations that are responsible for setting the regulations. Either lobby them to change the recreational limits or lobby them to decrease the size limits for the commercial sector. In either case you would be more successful at achieving your goal.

Coming to this or any other online forum designed for sportfishing is only going to get you a tongue lashing from the membership and no sympathy what so ever. Whining and crying like a high school kid left out of the "In" crowd does nothing for your credibility and only serves to make you look immature. Leaving out your name or what boat you fish out of is only helping to fan the flames of your lack of integrity.

Please be a grown up stand up for what you believe and post your real name and information or just don't post anything at all. IF you folks who ***** and complain about sportfisherman that "have no clue" would instead create a thread where you educate those who are clueless it would go a long ways toward reaching your goal of keeping people out of your business. But instead you just create a post that personally attacks a person who has a great reputation in his chosen pursuit.

heavy duty and washashore....what boats do you fish on east of chatham? and one other question if 50 percent of the boats that fish east of chatham caught and kept one "rat" a day would that totally kill the giant bluefin tuna population? oh yeah and that is a "RAT" in my avatar that is the fish that got me my tuna fever!! a real good friend got me on that fish and it was something i'll always remember and it's what i'm trying to do for my father now while i still can. to me thats what fishing out east for these rats is about. making memories with people i care about while i have the opportunity. is there something wrong with that??? why don't bass fisherman get pissed at rec guys who can keep two fish at 28 inches when theirs have to be 34?? i mean come on its fishing!! maybe it's your livlihood and if it is thats commendable hard work!!!! but eric isn't doing anything to hurt you, he's just working hard himself, see unlike you who work for yourself eric works for the public, and that in it's own ways isn't easy. i could see you disliking eric if he was purposly out to "get you" or something but he's not he's just trying to earn a living whether it's killing "babies" or running a shop he might have gotten help purchasing, is any of that still not commendable? how did you purchase your boat? did you get help by some rich guy that started the bank you used for a loan? or did you maybe inherit some money from someone in your family? i mean it shouldn't matter if someone needs help getting something started, most of us do. so you guys need to ask yourselfs some real hard questions.....1. is eric really worth it to get yourselfs so pissed off over? 2. are you really thinking these things through all the way or are you just reacting to your first thoughts/feelings? i mean seriously do you think he goes out there everyday and says to himself "hmmm i wonder how i could piss these guys off today? maybe i'll talk to someone and or respond to someone who talks to me on the radio and help em out a little bit?" i bet he doesn't so don't crucify the guy.......he's really a great guy who's been a huge help to me personally. so theres my .02!!

Heavy the point is this, why would you try to make a living doing something you can't make a living at and then try to undermine someone who has adapted to be able to?

Think about it because it's your decision.

Eric does what he does to make a living his way it's his right. You cannot tell anyone how to do that as long as it is legal. If you cannot make a living catching legal fish, look in the mirror and ask yourself why am I fighting with myself?

You seem pretty smart, maybe you should re-think the game plan.
