Turn's out the bite at George's is all Med fish, according to my source in DC!!! (Works for ASMFC)...
So how does that impact everyone's thinking? The best giant bite of the year and they aren't even "ours"...

To me although there is a Eastern and Western stock per se there is so much mixing going on I don't see any fish as "ours" or "theirs". That is why it was and is so important to get the Med catch within a reasonable limit in terms of metric tons caught and to have them stick to those quotas.
If the fish on George's are "theirs" then what are they doing in "our" waters? Didn't they see the fence or the invisible line that they should have turned around?
I agree completely! Clearly the stocks are mixed. When I found this out though, I thought it was pretty funny. I will say its not a good sign for the traditional north to south travelling western stock though when the only really giant bite is all mediterranean fish!
And supposedly our stock was in better shape than theirs....
explain again how there know to be 'med fish'?? do they speak portuguese or italian ??
How exactly are these groups of fish distinguishable ? Is there a DNA marker or other concrete evidence of discreet schools of tuna ?
